Since the finder won't accept SHUTDOWN or RESTART AppleEvents from a remote system, I have provided the system extension "Remote Shutdown" which will accept
those events and shut down or restart your computer. The events recognized by Remote Shutdown are:
"ISIS","REST" or "ISIS","rest" - restarts your computer
"ISIS","SHUT" or "ISIS","shut" - shuts down the computer
If any applications are open with documents that need to be saved, you will be asked to save the document. If nobody is present to respond to those dialogs, the system will NOT be shut down or restarted.
To use Remote Shutdown, simply drag it into your Extensions folder. Remote Shutdown runs as an invisible background-only application and occupies only 32K of memory.
